Diamond & Quantum Weekly | Sep 21–27, 2026
CCTV provided a higher-level public confirmation that diamond-copper cooling has entered a large-scale computing system through Sugon 8000; the quantum field saw no new industrial-status jump.
The reporting window runs from 00:00 Beijing time on September 21 to 23:59 on September 27, 2026.
Weekly signal
There were not many genuinely new developments this week.
The clearest one was a higher-level public confirmation that diamond-copper cooling materials have entered a large-scale computing system. CCTV’s Super Project: Sugon 8000 again presented diamond-copper cooling as one of the key technologies in the Sugon 8000 liquid-cooling system. The engineering deployment itself had already been disclosed by the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering in April. The new point this week is therefore the evidence level and public visibility, not first deployment.
Listed companies made several disclosures, but the central statements from Sifangda, Hengsheng Energy and Worldia had largely appeared in earlier months. They did not establish new customers, orders or a commercialization-stage transition, so they are not included as key items in the short edition.
The quantum field also saw no new industrial-status change. Element Six continued at Quantum World Congress to position diamond as a materials platform for quantum technologies, but its core wafer-scale achievements had already been made public.
Sugon 8000: a higher-level public confirmation of diamond-copper cooling
Starting September 25, CCTV-9 broadcast Super Project: Sugon 8000. Public coverage identified the “first large-scale global application of diamond-copper material” as one of the key technologies in the liquid-cooling system of Sugon 8000.
This information should be read alongside the April disclosures. The Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering had already stated that its high-thermal-conductivity diamond-copper cooling modules were used in the C8000 V3.0 phase-change immersion-cooling rack and deployed in clusters at a core node of the national supercomputing internet.
The earlier public figures included thermal conductivity above 1,000 W/(m·K), an 80% improvement in heat-transfer capability at the chip module and a 10% improvement in chip performance.
The new development is therefore not first engineering deployment. It is that this system-level application has now received further public confirmation through a national television program.
The more meaningful industrial conclusion is that diamond-copper has moved beyond material-performance claims and sample delivery to appear in a real computing system with cluster deployment. Supplier procurement scale, cost, long-term operating reliability and more complete system-level thermal data remain undisclosed.
This is meaningful evidence, but it should not be extrapolated into a conclusion that the diamond-cooling industry as a whole has reached broad volume commercialization.
CVD diamond and MPCVD
No listed-company status change this week was strong enough to be listed separately.
Some interim reports and investor communications contained progress language, but they did not demonstrate a stage improvement compared with earlier disclosures. These items are retained for longer-term tracking in the full edition rather than treated as new industrial events.
Quantum technology
No Class-A industrial-status transition was identified this week.
Conferences and industry activity
Hefei held a forum on high-quality diamond development and advanced-ceramics applications on September 22.
On September 26, Xiamen University and Flink Qiming’s industrial-chain program held a closed workshop on extreme thermal management.
Quantum World Congress 2026 took place from September 26 to 28. Element Six continued to emphasize synthetic diamond as a materials platform for quantum sensing, quantum networking and quantum computing. A separate article will examine the conference developments in more detail.
Social-media observation
The overall value of candidate items on international social media was limited. Most were recirculations of older papers, previously disclosed technical results or company marketing, and none formed new Class-A evidence.
What to watch next
- The supply chain, procurement scale, long-term operating data and system-level thermal performance of diamond-copper cooling in Sugon 8000.
- Whether Element Six announces new material specifications, standardized products or customer-supply information in quantum applications.
Evidence limits and uncertainties
- Supplier procurement scale, cost, long-term reliability and complete system-level test data for Sugon 8000's diamond-copper cooling remain undisclosed.
- The CCTV report raises the public evidence level but should not be read as proof that diamond cooling has broadly reached volume commercialization.
- Several listed-company disclosures this week repeated or restated earlier status and did not establish a new customer, order or commercialization-stage transition.
