What 53 Job Listings Reveal About the MPCVD Industry

I reviewed 53 MPCVD-related listings on two Chinese recruitment platforms. Hiring data is imperfect: listings can be duplicated, exploratory, stale, or disconnected from completed investment. Even so, the pattern suggests that the industry’s participants, organization, and competitive focus are changing.

The central shift is from who can grow a sample toward who can build a repeatable industrial system.

New participants are entering from adjacent industries

The sample included companies better known for semiconductor equipment or process platforms. Piotech, for example, listed diamond-material and high-power-chip thermal-management roles. Favored Tech listings included application-development and equipment-process positions.

These listings do not prove a commercial diamond business. They indicate that companies with adjacent equipment and engineering capability are evaluating diamond as part of a larger materials, process, thermal, and device problem.

Hiring extends far beyond crystal growth

Roles covered process development, mechanical design, equipment leadership, simulation, composites, thermal management, production operations, maintenance, and application development.

Wuxi Songyu’s sampled roles combined MPCVD mechanical and process leadership, signalling an attempt to build hardware and process capability together. Other organizations split R&D and manufacturing roles across locations, suggesting that laboratory development, production cost, infrastructure, and expansion are beginning to be organized separately.

Geography reflects different industrial functions

The listings suggested several clusters:

  • Zhengzhou retained a strong superhard-material and research base;
  • Wuxi reflected equipment and industrial-engineering capability;
  • Xiamen appeared in application and semiconductor-related work;
  • Hohhot and Inner Mongolia signalled attention to energy, space, infrastructure, and operating cost.

This is a directional interpretation. A location in a listing does not prove that a factory or capacity plan has been completed.

The vocabulary is moving downstream

Thermal management, composites, heterogeneous integration, device interfaces, production process, and application development appeared alongside growth. That vocabulary reveals the next question: after diamond is grown, how does it enter a package, module, or qualified product?

The industry is also stratifying. Some teams remain focused on frontier growth; some are building production, maintenance, and yield organizations; others are hiring the bridge between material and application.

Recruitment is not an outcome, but it often precedes one. This sample suggests that the next MPCVD competition will connect four capabilities:

equipment + process + material + application.

The winner will not necessarily be the organization with the most reactors or the loudest claim. It will be the one that makes those four capabilities stable, scalable, and accountable.
